A new year, a new blog, a new candidate for Congress. This new blog will be an outlet to disseminate views on the Libertarian message. And for those of you new to Libertarianism, it's simply a philosophy that allows for people to live their life as they choose, so long as they don't interfere with the equal rights of others.
The Title "Tu ne cede malis" is French, and was Ludwig von Mises favorite saying, meaning "do not give into evil". This was his reference, that socialism should be opposed as it is evil.
This century will be the century of freedom. The world can now communicate with each other. There are still areas, like Cuba that had to outlaw the Internet, computers and photocopies as they could not let their people know what is happening in the world. But this is futile and will only delay the inevitable. The end of course will be freedom. I fully anticipate that I will see the "freeing" of the entire African Continent. That millions of people will throw off their corrupt leaders and join in free trade, travel, and a better life.
We have just witnessed one of the greatest social experiments of mankind. About 100 years ago the thinking by many (most?) was that government takeover of our lives would lead to a better life. So China, Soviet Russia, half of Germany and a list of other countries followed the teachings of Karl Marx. The State would have control. Well after 50 years, the results are in. We've seen that it doesn't matter where it takes place, who are the leaders, all the results are consistent. Socialism fails. It fails everywhere, every time. Free markets, free exchange and the rule of law lead to a rich life filled with freedom and choice.
With the growth of communication and education, more and more people are discovering this. I encourage you to discover this as well. And then take some action. It can be as simple as voting. Voting to give people the power, and take it away from politicians. I always vote for tax cuts. This keeps money with individuals and out of the State.
Okay, I'm new to blogging, so hopefully not too many typos. I'll be addressing and sharing specific Libertarian positions in future blogs. Something you may not hear in the daily dose of media we are exposed to. And at least you'll be better educated and allow you to make a better informed decision. Because freedom means choice.

"Tu ne cede malis" is not French. It is Latin.
ReplyDeleteThe quote comes from Virgil's Aneid. The complete quote is actually "Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito."
The most accurate translation is "Do not give in to misfortune [probably not "evil"], but proceed even more boldly against it."
